Teaching Assistant Tentative Agreement Ratification Vote

On April 15, 2024, AGSEM TA Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement for the new contract with the employer, including a back-to-work protocol. Teaching Assistants will decide to accept or reject the deal by majority vote.

• A tentative agreement is a new contract that our Bargaining Committee and the employer have agreed upon at the negotiation table.
• A back-to-work protocol governs how we will return to our work after the strike, including whether and on what terms we will make up any of the work that we did not do while on strike.

We invite everyone to participate in a bargaining unit-wide conversation about the tentative agreement at the ratification assembly. We will share the details of the tentative agreement and the back to work protocol. We will also discuss how this agreement could fit into broader long term labour organizing at this university.

Come to the Ratification Vote Assembly on Thursday, April 18 to hear the BC’s presentation, discuss the proposal, and vote.

You will receive the Bargaining Committee’s summary of the tentative agreement’s main points via email 24 hours before the assembly.

Meeting location: Centre Mont-Royal, 2200 Rue Mansfield

Meeting time: Check in begins at 4:30 p.m., meeting starts at 5:00 p.m.

Dinner will be served.

• This is an in-person meeting. Fill out this request form (on top of the general RSVP form!!!) to ask for online attendance if you have access needs.
• Registration is required. We ask that you avoid RSVP-ing at the last moment. Please register as soon as possible, preferably by 2:00 pm on Thursday.
• Please sign your membership form before attending! You will not be able to vote unless you fill your membership form.
• You will be able to vote by a link sent to your email address towards the end of the assembly. Please check which email address you used to RSVP and be ready to open it in the meeting to vote.
• If you have worked as a Teaching Assistant at McGill within the past 12 months, you are a member of AGSEM Unit 1 and are able to vote.
• Masks are required at AGSEM events. We will provide surgical or better masks at the door in case you forget yours.
