Though McGill did not seek Union consultation, AGSEM's Executive Committee has reviewed and commented on the new Policy Concerning the Right to Accommodation for Students with Disabilities.
We have a number of concerns--and not just that the policy's name has changed, or that it has suddenly doubled in length. There are serious concerns about how this new policy increases barriers to accessibility, continues to put the onus of enforcing accessibility on disabled students, and does not have concrete steps to support all students (especially disabled grad students and/or disabled grad student workers). Our comments can be found here.
We encourage members to submit their own feedback to the consultation, which is available here: https://www.mcgill.ca/studentlifeandlearning/current-projects/accommodations-policy
Consultation closes on August 13 at 5pm.
